The Enneagram & Trauma

Become trauma-informed in your Enneagram work
The Enneagram as a Map to Healing and Self-Remembering

Go on a personal journey of self-reconnection and bring your newfound knowledge, skills and trauma-sensitivity into your personal journey as well as your Enneagram coaching and facilitation work.

Discover the ways in which the Enneagram can be used to transform Trauma-related Self-disconnection into Aliveness, Heartful Connection and Presence, safe in the here and now

“The course was broad and deep, covering an emotive subject in an assured, confident and safe way.” – Pilot Participant, 2021.

This 6 month IEA-Accredited Enneagram Certificate Program will equip you with everything you need to be skilfully trauma-informed in your Enneagram work and avoid re-traumatisation of your clients.

The course content synthesises and integrates the latest psychobiology and traumatology research with powerful Enneagram teachings to help us to understand the relationship between developmental trauma / ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and adult trauma-based reactivity within the Enneagram Type-specific defensive strategies. The core principles of this training are based on the work of Dr. Laurence Heller, founder of NARM®.

– Establishing relational safety and a sacred space
– Helping clients move build internal coherence capacities.
– Trauma-informed practical mindfulness, breathwork and centering techniques.
– Supporting clients to enter the here and now without triggering past trauma.
– Client resourcing and nervous system down-regulation practices to use in coaching.
– Referral practice guidelines and working as part of a professional team.
Somatic and embodiment practices are facilitated by Lila Ukabhai, (www.jaali.co.za) who has trained in Leadership Embodiment (LE) with Enneagram expert and Aikido Master Wendy Palmer, and is also a mindfulness teacher.

– Connect with others in a safely facilitated group as your deepen your trauma sensitivity in real time.
– Deepen your centre of gravity and confidence.
– Witness and be witnessed in your current lived experience and self-reconnection journey.
– Deepen your own personal trauma-integration and self-understanding.
– Enhance your own wellbeing, resilience and internal coherence.
– Enhance your agency, aliveness and self-reconnection skills.
– Deepen your ability to offer heartful Presence to others.

NOTE: I am a “strong facilitator” in the interests of creating safety and also to maximise the group learning. It is important to recognise that this is not a group therapy process. If you are currently processing significant developmental trauma or in the course of the programme realise that you need to, it is advised that you seek out psychotherapy in parallel to your course participation.

My courses always include the cultivation of an integrated combination of 3 kinds of knowing, which correspond with the 3 Enneagram centres of Intelligence, which in Vervaeke’s cognitive science are called:
Propositional Knowing: Head knowledge and thinking, Enneagram theory, latest trauma research. Videos, audio, infographics.
Perspectival Knowing: Heart knowledge and personal understanding and appreciation of others’ experience. The course is highly interactive, a mix of content and process (approximately 60:40), and facilitated for the maximum quality of learning and interpersonal inclusivity safety and respect for others’ presence and time.
Participatory KnowingAction centre practical knowledge, contextually relevant applicable skills and processes. This will include embodiment and somatic practices facilitated by Lila Ukabhai, who has trained extensively with Wendy Palmer. https://leadershipembodiment.com/about-us/
